Misinformation, Maternal Mortality, and Abortion Bans

As more reports surface of women losing their lives to abortion bans [1] amid the persistence of significant racial disparities [2] in maternal mortality, abortion opponents have ramped up their resistance to tracking and preventing these awful outcomes. Some anti-abortion organizations and leaders have even leaned into disinformation aimed at disparaging medical professionals, blaming abortion-seekers, and spreading fear around abortion and pregnancy care in an apparent effort to downplay the serious and growing consequences [3] of abortion bans.

In this webinar, we’ll hear from experts who are working at the intersections of abortion access, maternal mortality, and public health to get a clear-eyed, evidence-based view of the post-Dobbs maternal health landscape in the United States. We’ll also talk about what you can do as an advocate to support better maternal health outcomes, improve accountability, and counter anti-abortion misinformation in our post-Dobbs world.
