Demand Costco, Kroger and Walmart Stock Mifepristone in Their Pharmacies Now!

Add your name now and make your voice heard: demand that Costco, Kroger, and Walmart take immediate action to provide mifepristone in their pharmacies.

Last month, Reproaction sent letters to the CEOs of Walmart, Costco, and Kroger urging them to take immediate action and stock mifepristone in their pharmacies. This safe and effective medication, used for both abortion and miscarriage care, is essential for reproductive health, yet these major retailers have not taken the necessary steps to ensure it is available to their customers.

We are now calling on all supporters of reproductive rights to put pressure on these pharmacies to stock mifepristone.

While other national retailers have already moved to fill mifepristone prescriptions, Costco, Kroger, and Walmart continue to lag behind. This inaction follows pressure from a small group of anti-abortion investors who are actively working to block access to this crucial medication. [1] These groups represent an extreme and shrinking minority, as the majority of Americans support access to abortion, and everyone deserves equitable access to the health care they need. [2]

Mifepristone has been FDA approved for over two decades, consistently proving itself to be a safe and effective medication. [3] In 2023, medication abortions accounted for 63% of all abortions in the U.S., showing the increasing reliance on this vital health care option, especially as dangerous abortion bans sweep the country. [4] With the FDA authorizing retail pharmacies to dispense mifepristone in January 2023, there is no excuse for these companies to withhold access to the care their customers need.

We demand that Costco, Kroger, and Walmart become certified pharmacy distributors of mifepristone and fulfill their responsibility to serve their customers’ health care needs. It’s time for these companies to stand with their customers, not against them.

Add your name now and make your voice heard: demand that Costco, Kroger, and Walmart take immediate action to provide mifepristone in their pharmacies.
