Statement: Abortion bans are killing people

In response to the September 15, 2024 ProPublica article, “Abortion Bans Have Delayed Emergency Medical Care. In Georgia, Experts Say This Mother’s Death Was Preventable,” Reproaction Co-Founder, President and CEO Erin Matson issued the following statement:

“Abortion bans cause tragic, preventable deaths. We’ve known this for decades and now there are at least two women we know of who would be alive today if not for Georgia’s unnecessary and cruel abortion ban.

And still, anti-abortion leaders refuse to acknowledge the undeniable truth: abortion saves lives.

Our hearts go out to the friends and families of Amber Thurman, Candi Miller and every other person who died waiting on an abortion that could have saved them. We see you. We are with you. We will fight for you.”
