The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) expanded access to medication abortion in January 2023. Prior to this expansion, medication abortion needed to be picked up in-person at physician’s offices who met tight, unnecessary restrictions for dispensing the medication. Now, people needing abortion care will be able to get it through participating pharmacies, including through the mail and at stores.
