Reproaction Protests White House Screening of Anti-Abortion Propaganda Film ‘Gosnell’
In response to a week-long anti-abortion propaganda campaign by the Trump administration, a billboard truck by Reproaction will circle the White House today with a clear message: Misinformation about abortion is blatant, fear-mongering propaganda. If you’re going to talk about abortion, get the facts.
The billboard comes at a time when our government’s highest-ranking officials are giving air time to anti-abortion propaganda. Their willingness to entertain anti-abortion lies and misinformation has led to dangerous policies with no basis in fact, that do direct harm to people’s health, and seek to put women and providers in jail. A few examples from just this week:
- Ted Cruz held a hearing about the false claim that conservative views and anti-abortion voices are censored on Twitter;
- Senate Judiciary Committee held an “Abortion Until Birth” hearing to discuss Lindsey Graham’s bill to ban abortion at 20 weeks and criminalize providers; and,
- The White House will screen an anti-abortion film created by right-wing producers, that is riddled with lies and seeks to demonize abortion providers and outlaw abortion.
Erin Matson, co-founder and co-director of Reproaction, issued the following statement in response:
“It’s clear that anti-abortion propagandists not only have the ear of this administration and Senate leaders, but are using the platform of our highest levels of government to advance their anti-abortion agenda. When lies are treated as facts and used to create policies to punish people for having and providing abortion care in this country, we are all in danger.”
