#ShowMeRJ in Jefferson City

| Reproaction

By: Zoe Krause

Reproaction and local #ShowMeRJ activists took Jefferson City by storm this week before and during this year’s veto session to demand accountability from members of the sham Senate Interim Committee on the “Sanctity of Life”. We are demanding a full accounting and return of taxpayer funds wasted in the pursuit of the committee’s obsessive witch hunt persecuting abortion providers. Missourians deserve to know how our tax dollars have been spent, the return of wasted funds, and a commitment going forward to prioritizing real issues impacting our lives.

On Tuesday, local reproductive justice activists joined Reproaction in a direct action outside of high dollar fundraisers held for Senators Schmitt and Onder. While Schmitt, Onder and their friends spent hours during the regular session in hearings talking about restricting health care access, real issues impacting Missourians’ lives like structural racism, lack of access to health care, a dismally low minimum wage and gun violence went unaddressed. Both Senators found the time during veto session to attend high dollar fundraisers to fill their coffers, but they still have not found the time to answer Missourians who deserve a full accounting of what was wasted.

Schmitt and Onder’s priorities are dangerous to the health of Missouri and Missourians – and we let them know that we’re fed up with their misplaced priorities.

On Wednesday morning, Reproaction hand-delivered past due invoices to Senators Kurt Schaefer, David Sater, Mike Kehoe, Will Kraus, Bob Onder, Eric Schmitt, and Jeanie Riddle for the unknown funds used in pursuit of a failed witch hunt against abortion providers. Previously, Reproaction has asked the committee about their use of state resources, but we have yet to receive a response.

Missourians are fed up with the waste and fraud of hypocritical state legislators who profess to being “pro-life” while doing nothing about the issues regularly threatening the lives of Missourians.

Reproaction is committed to continuing to demand accountability from our elected officials and we’d love your help – find us at http://www.showmerj.org/.
