Working Smarter Means Elevating Smart Workers

| Reproaction

By: Shireen Shakouri

Being a manager is harder than I thought it’d be, but also far more rewarding. Part of why it’s such a joy for me is working alongside Reproaction’s winning staff.

We are lucky enough to have had the majority of our staff on board for five or more years. Part of how we retain such excellent people is our sabbatical policy, which Erin detailed in a recent post on our Medium page, If We’re Going to Work Well, We’ll Have to Work Smart.

Along with that, we are also firmly committed to observing a 32-hour work week, holding each other accountable to real rest and self-care, and investing in staff wellness in a variety of ways. We put dollars and hours behind our commitment to cultivating our people. And as a result, we are experiencing some exciting growth!

Reproaction is thrilled to be hiring for a new position – press secretary – to join our team. Anyone interested can find the job description and how to apply here. But what I’m most proud of is the opportunity to promote from within. The fact is, our team is majorly talented, and already prepared to take on the challenges presented by our opposition. So we’re scaling up to enhance their talents and impact.

Please join me in congratulating Evonnia Woods, Jessica Ensley, Kieran Mailman, Nataley Neuman, and Negar Esfandiari on their recent promotions.

To make this growth work, Erin and I are also shifting our labels and duties slightly. Erin’s going from Co-Founder and Executive Director to President and CEO (though she’s still our co-founder, along with Pamela Merritt who remains on our Advisory Council.) I’ll be Executive Vice President and Chief of Staff, a move that allows for more upward growth for our department heads as well as potential for new additions to come, so stay tuned!

Our movement has bright, fierce, bold, hard-working leaders in our ranks. While outside perspectives, new ideas, and fresh faces can and should always be welcome in our work, it’s also vital that we recognize, and amplify, the existing talent among us. We go farther when we go together, and trusting in the potential of those already making the work happen never steered me wrong. Giving your people more room to shine and succeed pays off, big time.

Keep an eye on Reproaction as we reap those rewards!
